AZTEC EMPIRE & AZTEC TRIPLE ALLIANCE MAP

The Aztec Empire was a dominant society in Central Mexico that developed on the shores of Lake Texcoco.  The Aztec established their main city, Tenochtitlan, in 1325 CE and quickly spread throughout the rest of the region.  The Aztecs, Texcoco and Tlacopan joined forces in 1428 to create the Triple Alliance.  Together they fought against the Tepanec and challenged them for superiority in the Valley of Mexico.  Over time the three were able to overpower all other societies in the Valley of Mexico.   Click the links above to read more information about each topic.
