ROUTE OF HERNAN CORTES TO CONQUER THE AZTEC
The Aztec Empire was a dominant society in Central Mexico that developed on the shores of Lake Texcoco. The Aztec established their main city, Tenochtitlan, in 1325 CE and quickly spread throughout the rest of the region. Spanish conquistadors led by Hernan Cortes conquered the Aztec Empire in 1520.
